In my work, and in the course of writing this book, I’ve become aware of these impressive organizations, and I’m delighted to celebrate many of them here:

Philanthropy Together is a global initiative to scale and strengthen the growing movement of collective giving. Its goal is to create a world filled with passionate, empowered people giving collectively and intentionally, together.

The States Project has a Giving Circles Network. From their website: “Think of it like your book club or your group chat deciding to take strategic political action together — and saving our democracy while you’re at it. TSP Giving Circles organize their networks, learn how to build power at the foundations of our democracy, and fundraise meaningful totals that fuel The States Project’s electoral work.”

Grapevine gathers like-minded people to donate to a common cause. It provides infrastructure support for giving circles and houses a growing directory of giving circles around the world.

The Othering and Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley is committed to building a world where all people belong. They do so by advancing approaches to transforming structural marginalization and inequality.

Latino Community Foundation’s Latino Giving Circle Network is the largest network for Latino philanthropists.

Philanos is the largest network of women’s giving circles. Find one or join one!

The Community Investment Network (CIN) was established to support and encourage the development of giving circles and other collective giving models. Today, CIN is a collective of philanthropists who use their time, talent, treasure, and testimony to address social issues impacting their communities by using thoughtful giving strategies.

The Leading Change Network with Marshall Ganz at Harvard University develops and supports new civic leadership that organizes communities to build power and create change.

The Asian Women Giving Circle is my giving circle and we’re turning 20 this year! We believe culture is an essential part of any strategy for social change. We make grants to support projects led by AANHPI women and gender-expansive people in NYC that harness the power of arts and culture to: raise awareness and catalyze action around critical issues that affect AANHPI women, girls, gender-expansive people and families; advance a free, just and safe society; and shine an authentic spotlight on our experiences and stories.

Freedom School for Philanthropy is a curriculum for philanthropists and advisors who want to center values, equity, and justice in their practice. Radiant Strategies built it and one of our goals is to knit together a community of people united by shared values and vision.
Wherever you live, there are organizations doing great work nearby– your local women’s foundation and your local community foundation are two great starting places. Get involved and get educated about local issues.  Join something! Imagine your kitchen table as a locus of powerful organizing!
